Room Data Sheets SmartTool

RDS (Room Data Sheets) are used for capturing the requirements and information of each space in a design. They are typically prepared by the client at the briefing phase (also called architectural programing in the US) of the design process. They can be updated throughout the design to reflect changes or to give the necessary information of the people responsible for delivering a project.

The Room Data Sheets SmartTool allows you to create rooms (or space), data sheets using the Revit project. It’s a fast and accurate tool that can be used for sheets, elevations and schedule views. The tool is able to create 3D, plans elevations and views of schedules for rooms or spaces that are named parametrically and the sheets are numbered on the new sheets.

By default, the tool will employ the Room Numbering template as well as the Sheet Format that are set by the Revit project However, a different sheet name and style can be picked from the Tool Options tab. Click “Load configuration …’ on the toolbar to replace current settings with previously saved configurations. This helps reduce the amount of that manual work is required for various dimensions and types of rooms.

The tab ‘Naming’ allows users to choose whether the chosen room/space is included in the sheet’s Name text box which is located on the left of the screen. The ‘View Title:’ option specifies what text appears in the title bar for each view. View Increment is the number of increments that exist between each view on the sheet. The option ‘Spacing’ allows you to control the space between each view. The “Exclude Titles from Estimating View Sizes for Sheets’ choice will prevent titles from being included their explanation in the calculation of the number of views on sheets.
